During Malcolm Fairley's crimes, he wore a mask that he made from a cut off portion of his trouser leg. When police went to his house they found a car with two identical pairs of overalls that matches the pair that the mask was cut from. While he waited for some of his victims “The Fox” looked through photographs and cut up telephone cords and dressing gown cords to bind future sexual assault victims. Malcolm Fairley “The Fox”, cut out a piece of sheet stained with semen so the police wouldn't be able to trace it to him. This sheet was buried in a field.A farmer who knew about what was happening from watching the news noticed something unusual buried in his field. He alerted the police and they found a gun a piece of sheet and a towel. "The Fox” left behind the anorak (jacket) and peanuts he stole from the house beforehand. There was no evidence of hair gathered for analysis of the “The Fox’s” crimes.
